A few years ago a NASA employee wrote an opinion article arguing that the constellation of Ophiuchus should be included in the Zodiac as the 13th sign.
We're coming up on Ophiuchus season right now as it sits on between Scorpio and Sagittarius. As I've argued previously when examining this topic having a 13th Zodiac sign symbolizes a completion. I think that Ophiuchus should be included but only for the two week period in between Scorpio and Sagittarius instead of reworking the entire system. However, Ophiuchus might have even larger implications regarding the story of the soul along with humanity's "fall." The Descent Into Matter I find the Edgar Cacye material and John Van Auken's book Egyptian Mysticism describe what happened that causes humanity to lose our invitation to the cosmic party. Souls had become so entangled in Physical Material Reality (PMR) that they had to lose their connection to Spirit. For the human experiment to work souls needed to think that PMR was all that existed. There was a firm split between the two genders and humanity was given a universal set of teachings that would help guide them through this period of spiritual isolation. Almost every culture talking about "God" or the "Gods" returning at the end of this cycle whether it's the Sumerian Gods, Quetzalcoatl or Jesus. This "descent" into matter was set for a specific amount of time. Many cultures and people are in agreement that the Age of Aquarius Mark's the end of that isolation. Ophiuchus The fact Ophiuchus is now a constellation everyone knows about thanks to the NASA scientist who launched it into the spotlight a few years ago is interesting. I've been reading The Ancient World Wide System : Star Myths Of The World and in this book Ophiuchus is one of the central topics. From Indigenous American to Egypt to the Indigenous of New Zeeland the myths revere this constellation. Here is a quote: "Ophiuchus plays the God who is slain- and who is representative in his underworld situation of our own condition in this mortal life. We ourselves, the myths are illustrating, have a divine nature, but we have been "cast down" into the underworld of this incarnate life, where our condition is analogous to that of the god who is slain... Note that not only Osiris in ancient Egypt but also Christ in the Gospels, Baldr in the Norse myths (as well as his father Odin himself, when he hangs on the Tree), Dionysus in ancient Greece, and even Quetzalcoatl the god who came and dwelt among mortals, can all be identified with the figure of Ophiuchus in the heavens- and in a of their stories I would argue that the same powerful truths are being illustrated for our deeper understanding... This reestablishment of the vertical connection- the connection to the Higher Self, the spiritual nature, the realm of the gods- is described metaphorically in the myths as the second birth, the spiritual birth, and the connection with the Divine Twin." The Divine Twin, our Higher Self, is the same thing as the Anima or Animus in Psychology. Also, the Second Birth is something that is detailed in Alchemy. For me personally, I experienced at-one-ment through Shadow Work. I've detailed all of this in previous blogs. Conclusion Including this Ophiuchus as the 13th sign as we enter the age of Aquarius is absolutely Divine Timing. Interest in Astrology is at an all time high and I have no doubt that over the coming years there will be a lot of innovation and we might hear more about this fascinating astrological sign as time goes on. Right now, collectively, we are doing the necessary Shadow Work that will lead to that reconnection with Spirit. I don't think that we are entirely into the Age of Aquarius yet which might be the reason why Ophiuchus is only recognized by one group of astrologers. Symbolically the resurrected character of Ophichus represents that humanity is being resurrected as our connection to Spirit is being restored. We are coming out of the 'fallen' period in human history.

When going over the symbolism for this full moon and I realized how much everything tied together I was just stunned. This Full Moon has a lovely energy...literally love. Venus is the star when it comes to this Full Moon. The Sun conjunct Uranus is in Taurus which is ruled by Venus. Venus herself is in her own sign of Libra. She's not alone in the sign of balance though because her brother Mercury is there with here. Libra is the sign of balance and with Mercury and Venus there the symbiology is pretty obvious- this Full Moon is all about the a balance between the impulsive heart and calculating mind. The human heart is known for being passionate and willful without much logic. The mind is known for being cold and analytical. When the two are in balance, however, a person can approach a problem from multiple angles. A loving solution to a perplexing problem may become obvious- or shockingly solve itself- with this Full Moon. We can see that balance being emphasized in the Justice card where he Goddess is holding both the sword and the scales. The Sword represents Air and thinking. If that isn't enough the asteroid for the Goddess associated with the Justice Card, Astraea, is also in the sign of Taurus with the Full Moon. Lamed, the Hebrew letter for this moon cycle, is known as the, 'Ox Goad." Obviously, the ox goad prods the ox forward and directs it. I feel that Uranus is fulfilling this same role in this Full Moon. Uranus is conjunct this Full Moon but because of all of the Venus energy whatever surprise may come might be a good one. Further, I pulled Unakite as the Oracle Stone for this Full Moon. This stone is literally known to bring balance between the Heart and Mind. With it's green and pink hues it reminds us that just the right amount of contrast can actually enhance a moment. If everything was always alike life would be boring. On a group level when everything is the same it leads to Group Think and Stagnation. A little bit of contrast or strife, on the other hand, actually leads to creative compromises and collaborations that are better then if everyone had just agreed in the first place. There is nothing to fear from a little bit of friction. Resistance, the Saturn Principle that I discussed in the New Moon blog, is necessary so that we have something to test ourselves against. The entire reason that eternal souls decide to incarnate in temporary vehicles of flesh is because we learn a lot more when we are limited then we do when we are limitless. A Spirit that can literally manifest everything it wants when it wants might end up with a mountain of discarded and disregarded toys/games/activities. When you're limited, by resources or by the 'short' lifespan of a human, every manifestation and accomplishment carries a lot more meaning and weight. That's the beauty of the human experience. I really find it interesting that every week this month I pulled Shadow Work stones. I promise that I had far more than just those stones in my box. I try not to put more of any particular type than the others so I was as surprised as everyone else that I kept drawing Shadow Work Stones. Of course, this lunar cycle has been heavily influenced by the Mars squaring Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto. That frustration at limitation, even death of old ways, has become normal this year. I know my assessment of the energy is a bit more positive then others but the layers are what I find the most interesting. Even though the stone that we pulled for this week, Red Aventurine, was a Shadow Work stone it was so pink (one of the two colors associated with the heart chakra- with green being the other) and sparkly I knew this week would be fun. This week, for me, has been a break in the seriousness. Despite the heavy Saturn energy I can definitely feel the Love energy of Venus. The gift of this full moon is that we can tune into the balanced heart or mind energy of Venus with Mercury in Libra. Yes, Uranus conjunct the Moon provides an electrical shock but it can be positive. Whenever the Subconscious (the Moon) is enlightened we learn a lot more about ourselves. Those of you following me have done an entire month of Shadow Work so we should be more than prepared to harness the positive energy of this Full Moon to help shift the energy. One of the lessons I've learned on the Path of the Seeker is that we can choose what energy we turn into. Normally, in a Full Moon there isn't such a division with so much Venus/Goddess energy and so much Masculine/Malefic energy at the same time. Yet, it's a striking moment where we can choose which energy we want to be in tune with. The entire purpose of working with the Moon Cycles in a personal practice is to choose to be in alignment with the Creation and Creator. Being aware of the cycles and patterns provides us with choices so that we are active participants instead of at the whim of Fate. We are aware of the direction the Winds of Fate are blowing, and to borrow Francesca Simeon's favorite saying, we can choose how to chart our course. We are definitely at a Crossroads where we have two options...and the option I choose is to align with and amplify the Venus/Goddess energy. No matter what happens on Election Day, which will occur shortly after this Full Moon, I will accept the outcome. Both outcomes carry negative consequences that will take some time to sort out. The energy that started in 2018 that lead up to this point will not completely shift until Pluto enters Aquarius in 2024. So, no matter who wins, this energy is not going away completely any time soon...the Coronavirus is this generations 9/11 and the repercussions of will continue to shape the behavior of governments across the world in the coming years. For me the Cleansing Frog energy of the Medicine Card is important. Especially since the Frog calls the rain with it's ribbit. The Frog itself doesn't cleanse but calls in the cleansing. I feel the energy that is around this lunar cycle is calling for Cleansing that will come as a result of what happens. There is an extremely important transformative aspect to this Full Moon as well because the Sun is in Scorpio and we are in Scorpio season. Scorpio either represents a Scorpion, a Hydra, a Fishing Hook or an Eagle/Phoenix. Scorpio is one of the most important Zodiac signs when it comes to myth. A lot of world myths are tied to Scorpio and Ophiuchus and they're all about resurrection. This weeks Saturday Blog revisits the constellation of Ophiuchus as part of the Zodiac with this in mind. We can either transform into the Scorpion with this energy by focusing on the Malefic Masculine energy and the fear it causes...or we can choose to transform into the Phoenix by releasing fear and embracing the renewing Goddess energy. Now this scent from Gonesh is one to write home about. I love all things Harvest Season and pumpkin spice. This is an extremely lovely scent of pumpkin spice with an extra emphasis on spicy. Better yet it will give off it's scent for about a week and feels my entire home with a wonderful smell before being burned. There is absolutely no better scent for Harvest Season. This isn't just a Halloween Scent this scent feels appropriate all the way through Thanksgiving because of that Pumpkin scent. This is one of those items I consider a mist buy! I highly recommend Gonesh Spooky Brew Incense Sticks!
The Oracle stone of the week is red aventurine.
Such a perfect stone for the week of Halloween! This beautiful root chakra stone is used for manifestation. This is a stone that gives you the energy to do what needs to be done. This particular Red Aventurine is very sparkly and has some pink hues connecting it to the heart chakra. This really makes me think that we are doing inner child work this week. Despite your age there is always a part of you that is a child. That part of us need to be nurtured just as much as it needed that in childhood. Nurturing the inner child is a simple process. All it take is tuning in to love and joy. There are many ways we can tune into the love and joy of a little child. We can go down to the nearest ice cream parlor and buy and ice cream for ourselves. We can go to a theme park or visit a mall. Whatever gives us that childlike wonder and awe that all of us can tune in despite our age. My husbands grandfather was particularly good at tuning into his inner child. He'd walk down to a ice cream shop that his family had visited for years and pick out his favorite ice cream- Espresso- every week. Up until he experienced dementia he was a happy go-lucky joyful charecter that positively influenced everyone he met. Now, we don't have to do something every week to make that inner child happy. Having ice cream once a week may seem extreme to the more fitness minded people. Yet, there are many other ways to become in tune with that inner child. Perhaps it's my Cancerian nature but I love playing with my daughter. Whatever she wants to play we have fun and my inner child basks in that attention. Whether I'm building blocks or at the park going down a slide....there is something about just witnessing her that automatically causes me to remember what it was like to experience the world with awe and wonder. This week in particular maybe dress up for Halloween, go to a party or just give out candy to trick or treaters! I debated a few different posts for celebrating my 10th Wedding Anniversary. I decided to do two in one, basically, because I found it interesting. I want to start with a meditation and then go into my thoughts on both the chart for our wedding date and the idea that my fate changed when my name changed as Kabbalistic Astrology by Rabbi Joel C. Dobin. Meditation The last ten years has gone by so quickly. I have to say that it didn't go the way that I expected. I didn't have many expectations but there were some things that I expected. I really thought Ross would do more with his music career but that has proven not to be true. When I met him he was performing in his band at venues. He hasn't done that for a long time. In fact, that was a bone of contention at one point because he always practiced but never performed and that took up a lot of time from family obligations. At the end of the day we have accomplished a lot together. We have a house in the suburbs, a pair of cars, a Harley Davidson motorcycle (V-Rod), and a gorgeous daughter. We have the life that so many people want as both of us are there for each other through thick and thin. Pema Chrodron refers to relationships as as charnal ground. A charnal ground is where birds come to eat the soft flesh from dead bodies...it's actually considered a place of purification. I can't help but think of the Alchemical stage of Putrefication when I think of this image. Putrification is a crucial stage of Alchemy because all of the superficial aspects of the substance are stripped away. Not long ago I used Black Lemurian Jade that is sprinkled with pyrite as an example of Shadow Work and the Alchemical process. We go in and remove the pyrite from the darker element to help that part of ourselves to grow. So many think that we start off with pure light but it's not true because that would mean that we all enter lives and relationships enlightened when the truth is quite the opposite. I was a little naieve when I entered into this marriage. I thought that we had already reached a state of self-actualization and that we were already evolved. Thinking back I know now that I had developed myself as much as possible without a relationship but I needed a relationship as a testing ground to continue to evolve. Indeed, I've evolved a lot during this marriage in ways I could never have imagined. Instead of going on the career path I expected I am now a 'bored' housewife. I discovered that no matter what role that we are dedicated to at any given path they all have significant challenges and trials. We've faced many challenges- the death of our first born child who passed away only a few days after birth and the challenge of my husband having a spending problem. Through all of that we have stood next to each other and worked to improve both ourselves and give feedback to one another. I think that is perhaps the biggest lesson I've learned in the last 10 years. I think it's very easy to support one another when times are good but it's very difficult to support a partner when they are struggling. Ultimately, the struggles we experience our personal and our own yet when in a relationship those challenges can either be amplified or de-escalated. We've rode to Colorado on the motorcyle, we traveled to Moab of offroad in a Jeep, and we've visited several National and State Parks together. On one trip we visited Bryce and Zion National Park. We've gone on many different hikes too. After ten years I feel that we are stronger than we have ever been. We have overcome some strange and scary moments. These days the highlight of my day is playing cards with him at the end of the day as we discuss what happened. There isn't much to discuss, a spattering of events during our day and some current events in the news but we still act as one. For the most part we know where we stand with things and we stand together. That is more than enough and I'm grateful that I found a really good soul-mate to go through in this life. I believe we have multiple soul-mates and it's more than okay to experience building a life with several of them before finding which soul mate works best in this life. I can't say that he is absolutely perfect for me- he's not remotely interested in spirituality- but we balance each other out. His lack of interest in that topic helps me ground into reality. I also help him look beyond his limited scope of reality from time to time. Here's hoping for ten more years of love and adventures! Astrology Charts
I was not into astrology when I planned my wedding back in 2010. I thought it was fun to have a wedding date of 10-22-10 but other than that I didn't consider the date all that important. Now that I am into astrology I thought it would be interesting to check out the chart from the day and time that my husband and I said, "I do." In Kabbalistic Astrology, as I mentioned above, there is an argument made for a name change literally changing a person's fate. Now, in that tradition Sarai/Abram became Sarah/Abraham. Further, in the Orthodox tradition an additional name is added to the person and not a last name change. For fun I thought that I would consider this chart to see what I can notice (I've never taken a class from anyone I just practice reading charts on the Full and New Moons) and what I feel resonates. I love being a Double Cappy (Ascendant/Moon) and you can see my chart on the left. My Sun is in Cancer. I have far more Earth and Air in my chart than I do Water while there is no Fire in my chart. Air represents the intellect and Earth is very practical real world results oriented. I have an interesting spread of planets including the Stellium of Pluto, Saturn and Mars in Libra (an Air sign). There is definitely a lot going on in my personal chart when it comes to Trines and Squares. I have seven planets in squares (rough, tense energy) and three planets in a Trine (Mars, Venus and Saturn). I even have a sextile between Uranus and Neptune. My Jupiter is in Scorpio so a lot of people think that I am a Scropio because I come off deep and mysterious. My Mercury is in it's exalted home of Gemini and my Venus is also in Gemini. This means I tend to overthink things and I have a lot of energy involved with the intellect. When it comes to love I have to have an intelligent partner or I don't respect them. In the chart for my wedding day and time I said, "I do," the Sun was in Libra (Air), while the Moon and Ascendant is in Taurus (Earth). Again, it's funny because if this were to change 'my stars' I would continue to have an Earth Ascendant and Moon sign...but it would be stubborn Taurus instead of pragmatic Capricorn. The Sun in Libra highlights the intelltecutal nature of our relationship. Also, interesting to me is the fact that in both charts Saturn is in Libra. I literally married my husband on my Saturn return! What's surprising to me is the Stellium of personal planets in Scorpio- Venus, Mars and Mercury! With all the personal planets in one sign I'd say that shows an inner harmony but Scorpio is a difficult Water sign...hinting that there is a lot of emotion involved. This hints at the fact that a lot of dark hidden things would be dredged up out of the muck and mud of the Subconscious. Scorpio is a powerful constellation that's very deep and transformative. On the one hand if the energy of Scorpio is dealt with correctly we can rise up like the Phoenix but if the energy is worked with in the negative we're more like the Scorpion in the muck. Jupiter is also in the water sign of Pisces with it's nebulous nature adding more Water or Emotion to this relationship. Again, in this chart just like my birth chart Mercury and Venus are together. This time they are in that Stellum in Scorpio. This means that there is a bit of a vindictive emotional Scorpio nature in both love and thinking unless, of course, we can rise above the pettiness of everyday aggravations. Overall, if I were to look at the chart for our wedding day and give a 'reading' for our relationshp it looks like a very deep and emotional (Pisces Jupiter/Scorpio Stellum) relationship with a fixation on equality (Libra) and attaining physical goals (Taurus) but a tendency towards co-dependency (Jupiter in Pisces- which represents a Oneness) that has the ability to either really empower or be destructive (Scorpio). I think that's a very good overall description of my marriage which I find really fascinating. My husband and I have been very focused on attaining physical goals ticking off each one that we had on the list. The relationship has been very emotional as we've faced a lot of obstacles that often destroy a marriage. We could go deeper into the analysis if we went into the Houses but I'm just doing a really brief look at these charts. I just wanted to do an overview. As far as the charts go I do resonate with my original birth chart more. There is a lot more tense energy in my birth chart than there is in the chart for my wedding day. If I were to choose which chart I would like to go by I'd probably stick to my birth chart. I think my birth chart is difficult with all of the squares but I resonate with the planet placements in that one the most. As far as which chart would be more beneficial...I'm not sure. I use a French Press for my coffee and I don't usually buy flavored coffee. I've tried flavored ground coffee in the past from Several different brands and only liked a Christmas Roasted Chestnut coffee. All other coffees were absolutely awful. I tried this one on a whim because I could smell it and it actually reminded me of the latte. Now, I worked at Starbucks for 8 years so believe me I know the smell and taste of Pumpkin Spice. Boy was I shocked by how on par this flavored coffee was! Not only does it smell like Pumpkin Spice sauce but it does taste just like the latte! I paired it with some Hazelnut Coffemate Creamer (not my favorite but it seemed right) and it was absolutely to die for! I highly recommend Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Flavored Ground Coffee!
Smoky quartz is one of the most powerful stones that you can work with. Lucklily it's also one of the most prevalent and easy to attain stones.
After two weeks of Shadow Work (Black Lemurian Jade and Rainbow Hematite) we're finishing up the process. We have achieved a balance between the Darkness and the Light. A lot of people try to stamp out the darkness within themselves. This is one of the reasons why there is such an imbalance in humanity. We cannot be all light and love with good feelings all of the time. Even the great sages recognize that we have peaks and valleys in life. The only guarantee that we have is that things will changes. In fact, when we repress the darkness within ourselves it comes out in really horrible ways. We might feel all light and sweetness one moment as things go our way and then in a flash turn into an angry demon because we didn't get something we wanted. That's the problem when you don't recognize and work with the darkness within. All of us need to balance the darkness and light within ourselves. We need to have both the active connected energy of the light and the depth of the darkness from which to create. The darkness provides the resources that we bring out into the light through the process of creation much as the Creator made our physical reality by making the Absolute Unbounded Multiplicity (AUM) from the Absolute Unbounded Oneness (AUO). In order to study how the Creator Created we must have the balance of the Darkness and Light within ourselves so that we can work with the same process. Every time we form an idea (the Realm of Air/ The Suit of Swords in the Tarot) it materializes from the shadow, we then we have to act in order to bring that idea from the AUO into AUM (the realm of Fire/The Suit of Wands in the Tarot), then we perfect the idea with further improvements inspired by AUO (the realm of Water/The Suit of Cups in the Tarot) and finally we have the idea fully actualized in the physical realm (AUM) (The realm of Earth/The Suit of Pentacles in the Tarot). The only way we successfully bring anything to fruition in our lives (the heart of the idea behind "magic" which is just science approached with the element of Spirit added in) is through the same process of Creation that the Creator used...after all, one of the reasons we came here to learn more about the Creator from which we have come by learning about ourselves. That's why balancing the Darkness and Light within ourselves is so important. Also, interestingly in Michael Newton's Journey of Souls the younger souls appear as yellow but the more mature souls look purple. This might be because of the balancing within the Soul of the Darkness/Feminine and Light/Masculine principles. Purple is a really good example of a mix of dark and light. The more we learn to create responsibly in the physical world the more responsibilities we are allowed in the Spiritual realm. That's why the entire theory that we dematerialize in physical form and spiritually seems infantile to those who work with both energies. That might make sense for those who are imbalanced and seek only non-existence because they are unhappy but that doesn't make sense from the point of being a Co-Creator. This week we finally get that balance of darkness and light correct so that we are co-creating our reality in every way possible. Each of us have our individual 'world' or 'timeline' and we choose what we are in alignment with in that world or timeline. I am very intrigued by the Essenes and I trust the Edgat Cacye material. Although John Van Auken is listed as the first author it seems Ruben Miller wrote most of the book because it doesn't sound like the other three books I read by Van Auken.
I was disappointed by this book. I was hoping for more information about the Essenes but most of the book focuses on Jesus. I don't know what I expected but this wasn't it. This is a prevalent issue with Edgar Cacye's work. Since he was and attracted strict Christian's they were seeking answers about Jesus. I have to admit that I did learn a bit about the Essenes. The group credited with 'creating' a setting where the Messiah could be born is fascinating. That said, for the price, there really isn't anything revelatory in this book. There are fascinating bits of information. I don't regret buying it and maybe on a second reading I will find more value but it was not what I expected. For example, many of the people associated with Edgar Cacye A.R.E. were said to be part of the Essenes. Here is what I marked that stood out to me as I read this book. What was most interesting is that Ruben Miller outlined that there were two predominate cycles of incarnations of two soul groups. Those section is located on page 6 of the bookm. One geoup started in Early Atlantis and the second is Late Atlantis. I was startled to discover that the Past Lives I recall fall neatly into the Early Atlantis group. In particular, Palestine during the time of Jesus and the Crusades. I had nothing in common with Group 2. The next interesting part is the definition of prophet Ruben shares because...quite frankly it's clear prophets are channels. "The term prophet is difficult to define but since the noun "prophet" comes from the Hebrew verb nana, meaning to 'bubble up's or 'boil forth' we may use this definition; A prophet is one who enters heightened states of awareness and pours forth words from divine inspiration." Pg 58 Interestingly, tdhe quote from Peter Woodbury's Venture Inward article, "As Above So Below," pops up in this book and I marked it. Now, I read this book months ago so I didn't even realized this until I wrote the Echos of Atlantis Blog and this blog in the same day. "For as thoughts are things, and as their currents run into the experience of individuals, they shape lives and activities so that they become miracles or crimes in experiences of others as they mete them in their associations with their fellow men. For as ye do it unto the least of these, thy brethern, ye do it unto they Maker. Hence these make for those activities in the experience of this entity's soul in which the masses, as well as classes and groups, are to be, will be, influenced... ...Hence know that He is in His holy temple, and that all the earth must hear, must know. For every knee must bow to that love divine, as ye are capable of meteting and measuring through such activities in they experience and they relationships with thy fellow men." pg 116 Honestly, that's all I want to share from this book. For some it may be an interesting and good entry point into the Edgar Cacye material about Yeshua because the one Edgar Cacye talks about is a lot better then the way Jesus is portrayed in popular mainstream Christianity.
This is an extremely potent cleansing and decisive New Moon.
There is a lot going on, fascinating symbols and really powerful energy. I've pulled Oracle Stones that involve Shadow Work for three weeks in a row- ever since Mercury entered Scorpio. Duality came up with both the Tarot Card and the Animal Medicine cards breaking down to 11 and 2. Shadow Work doesn't involve going from total darkness to total light but actually encourages a balance of the Light (Divine Masculine) and Darkness (Divine Feminine) within. Knowing when to give (masculine active energy) and when to receive (feminine receptive energy) can be tricky and it is super important that we have these aspects of ourselves in balance. Further the numerology can represent the balance between the individual and collective. Individual needs and desires are important but they don't always align with the need of the Collective. As our Hebrew Letter for this lunation symbolizes the heart (emotional feminine energy) and mind (analytical masculine energy) must be in balance with one another. The Divine Feminine Energy is waking up after a nice long nap. A lot of people are Awakening to their True Divine Nature as systems that control people are perfecting using Fear as a tool against them. The good news is that when truly Awakened to the Oneness of all Life there is no room for fear. Instead, it's easy to come from a neutral state of being-ness. Unfortunately, this process of the Divine Feminine Awakening will probably last through 2023 when the 'worst of things' will be over based on a dream that I had years ago and that just happens to be the year Pluto leaves Capricorn. The Astrology The Sun and Moon are at 23 degrees of Libra. Right off it's clear to see that there is change in the air during this New Moon because 23 is 5 in Numerology and that is a powerful number. Five is the number of change and transformation. All of that deep Shadow Work that we've been doing is starting to pay off. Five and 23 are considered a heavenly union as well as it's when the feminine 2 and masculine 3 combine to multiply. The star of this show is Mercury in Scorpio even though Venus (the Heart chakra) in Virgo is the ruler of this New Moon. That's because Venus is negatively impacted in Mercury's sign by what the host is doing and she's not doing too much herself. Mercury is having one heck of a time down in the 'underworld.' Mercury is retrograde as it explores what feels like familiar territory evolving around all things dark or repressed. Even though these two are connected with this New Moon energy there is a disconnect between the Mind and Heart since Mercury is retrograde. Mercury is also opposing electric Uranus which means that technology may glitch more than usual. This is definitely not the time that I would depend on my phone or laptop because things are gong to be so electric. Our minds may be blown as a lot of weird or interesting developments come out during this time period. Meanwhile we have multiple squares between the two Stellums going on in the sky. We have Saturn, Jupiter, and Pluto in Capricorn. Then there's Mars, Eris, and Chiron in Aries. In a lot of ways it's the Old School (the Capricorn gang) and the New School (the Aries gang which represents a Youthful Energy since Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac) butting heads, although, perhaps thankfully Mars is still retrograde and is offline. That means as all of these conflicts are happening there is a lack of personal vitality. The Sun and Moon in Libra seem to be weighing the New (Aries Stellum) and Old School (Cappy Stellum) as Mercury explores the old familiar realms of The Shadow. Our Conscious and subconscious may be focused on the conflict by the two opposing viewpoints provided by Aries and Capricorn but our Minds and Hearts are exploring the depths of the Shadow in search of balancing the seeming duality. Only Love can unite both. The Medicine Card: Frog Medicine Frog is the Animal Guardian of the Western direction to which this New Moon belongs. This powerful Animal Medicine Card represents cleansing. The frogs ribbet is attributed to calling rain. This powerful card is associated with Water Ceremonies of cleansing. Frogs are known to cleans negativity and brings new life through the process of cleansing. This card is number 38 and breaks down to eleven and that breaks down to two so there is a dualistic element The Hunters Moon This is the first moon of the West direction and the Water Element. This is the last moment we have to "catch our breath" before diving deep into the Underworld of the year. Much like Mars we are at the start of Shadow Season when we work with the mysterious energy of the Divine Feminine. The plant of this direction is Bearberry which is used in many Indigenous Sacred Tobacco blends. Bearberry can be drank as a tea and it's been known to help break fevers. Hebrew Letter Lamed The letter Lamed (found on the left hand bottom corner of the Justice Tarot Card) looks like a Yod with a Serpents tail. Lamed is the ox-goad and the concept is tied to the Saturn principal. The full spelling of the glyph's name(lamed) means, "A heart that understands knowledge." This is also the tallest of the Hebrew letters. Lamed literally means teaching and learning but it also begins the word for 'slander.' Just like anything else in life knowledge can be used for ill means. To me Lamed looks like a Yod with the serpents tail in the shape of a 5. This reminds me of the light trails that you can see after light has moved quickly and the snake that is associated with knowledge. Knowledge to me is the result of a quick mind but it's not usually but to use in an appropriate way until the heart is involved. We may know that we disagree with someone but we can choose not to fan the fire of disagreement by using. We don't have to choose to engage in divisive energy but use our energy to amplify unity by sharing love to all indiscriminately. The ox-goad also makes me think that sometimes Spirit has to prod us where we need to go. If we don't listen to the first intuitive clues Spirit becomes louder and louder until we finally listen to it's direction. We have the choice to align ourselves with Spirit when it's just whispering that things need to change or we can wait until Spirit brings what appears to be disaster upon us in response to us not listening. Sometimes Spirit has something better in store for us then we can imagine and as long as we are being narrow minded and rejecting the Will of Spirit we will keep experiencing more wake up calls until we do something about it. Justice Card The tarot card for this New Moon cycle is the Justice Card. This is the card for Libra (especially interesting given that this is a Libra New Moon) and it represents decisiveness. Within one hand of the Divine Feminine's is the sword which is Saturn according to Jason Lotterhead and in the other is the balanced scales. That which is not in balance is cut off. In the physical plane of existence much of our work is learning how to be balanced in a realm of limitation. That limitation encourages us to be creative in developing and envisioning the lives that we want. The card number is 11 which breaks down to 2 suggesting, just as the Frog Medicine Card, duality and balance at the same time. Jason Lotterhead explained the Saturn Principle this way: "An artist must have a resisting medium, whatever the field of expression...The more we practice on this material, the stronger and sharper we get. Thus we should enjoy the pressure because it means we're advancing all of the time.,, This is the process of elimination by which you find out what it is you really want...The whole point is that your joy and your life depend on no one but yourself." pg 182 Later he explains: "Don't forget that the sword is the essential tool of the creator, and you are the creator of your experience. In the act of creation you make a division between what is going to be in and what is going to be out...You have to limit your expression but you have infinite choice as to what you're going to do." pg 184 Finally, there is the beautiful statement: "There's an outer conspiracy against the individual because the individual is just too hard to handle. The system wants sheep; lions are not encouraged. In the Kabbalah it's the other way around." pg 185 The Justice card, to me, appears to represent both limitation and balance. When we are in a limiting situation and retain our "center" we are powerful indeed. Tools The tools I'm working with during this New Moon is a Blue Intention Candle for working with the elements of Air and Water. I really want to call upon the purifying energy of water while working with this dualistic energy. I decorated the candle with some Lemon Grass essential oil. I will also be working with Rainforest Incense to help invoke that purifying water energy. Shadow Work Balance Grid I wanted to make a Shadow Work Grid to honor this Moon Cycle. We have so much dualistic energy with the cards and purification energy with the Frog card and Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio that it's the perfect time for powerful Shadow Work. In addition to that we can honor the time of the year, according to Athena Perkins this is the Shadow Season because we are going into the time of year (in the Western Hemisphere) when the amount of night outweighs the daylight. I really wanted to work with contrasting stones of dark and light to bring a balance between the Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine within. All of these are crown and root chakra Shadow Work stones. Here is the list. 1. Smoky Quartz Generator: The great transmutation stone. Smoky quartz draws out the negative leaving only spaciousness in it's place. 2. Snowflake Obsidian: A powerful shadow integration stone. Brings balance to the body, mind and spirit. 3. Spider Web Jasper: This stone represents the interconnection of everyone in the great web of life. What happens with one person invariably sends out ripples that effects another. 4. Dalmatian Jasper: This is the stone of loyalty Dalmatian Jasper also represents a balance of the dark and light within one another. This is the stone of a balanced Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine. 4. Zebra Jasper: This one represents the union of heaven and earth. This one also balances the Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine. 5. 2 Rainforest Jasper Chip Stones- A heart chakra stone that is one of the most cleansing and fertile stones that you can possess. Rainforest Jasper reminds us that water brings life. The moist water of the rainforest supports a myriad of species and bounty of plants that thrive nowhere else. 6. 2 Pink Himalayan Quartz Points- I brought these soft pink stones into the grid to bring in loving support. Shadow Work can seem so heavy and lonely so I wanted to bring in some loving levity. Conclusion Justice comes when our emotional Hearts and analytical Minds are both aligned with love. While some might say that the analytical and emotional are opposites that is not true. There is intellectual love as much as emotional love. When you truly know someone and love them with all that you are it is on both levels. The experience of limitation helps us to grow by facing the adversity of the situation. When we're out of balance- whether on a collective or individual level it is easy to feel chaotic. Yet, the 'ox-goad' of that imbalance forces us to learn quickly how to regain our balance. We learn what makes us unbalanced so that in the future when a similar event happens we know how not to react. That's the process of learning and growing represented by Lamed. This New Moon is calling on us to unite and balance two seemingly different aspects within ourselves. When we can balance these two on an individual level it sends ripples out into the outer world creating harmony to the Collective that very much needs this energy. References Callahan, Kathy L. (2020) SageGoddess.com When I visited Sage Goddess Headquarters over a year ago I smelt this heart warming blend and had to have it. I highly recommend this blend to get into the mood of the season. Scent 'magic' or therapy is definitely more of a girly thing but a smell can take me back to a memory faster than music. Vesta smells like the fall! I can't explain how this perfume somehow smells like candy corn, cinnamon, nuts, maybe a little clove and everything warm and cozy at the same time. I love this perfume! Sage Goddess doesn't list all the essential oils in this blend but she lists cinnamon, orange peel and pumpkin. |
