There are several fascinating stories that I think are interrelated.
These stories cross many cultures. I wanted to share this with you guys because I think it's important. I've touched on this here and there but now it makes sense. I'm not going to dwell on this very long...although, it does deserve more time. I will try to lay these out in a way that makes the most sense. As I explained, once you master one of these perspective it helps us to move to other simiar ideas and make sense of them. Adam Kadmon We know this story from the blog Humanity's Purpose and it's based on the Hebrew Kabbalah. (This post is here: https://bridgetkorns.weebly.com/blog/category/1-humanitys-purpose Every time the Cosmic Tree of Life of Creation grew the Light of the One Creaetor flowed through it to all of it's branches and aspects. Adam Kadmon is one of those branches...and forms his own 'tree' because everything is made in the same energetic pattern. Adam knew that he was not meant to give the Light to Malkuth (Earth) which was a part of himself but he desired to share the Light of the Creator with her. He gave the light to Malkuth (Earth). He shattered into millions of sparks that fell to Malkuth and must unite in order to return the light of the One Creator they retain so it can be returned to the One Creator. However, as a result of this premature transmision of the light of the One Creator Adam Kadmon and Malkuth were cast into chaos which effected all of Creation. The result was, to limit the negative impact on the rest of the creation, was that Adam Kadmon was cut off so that the chaos did not spread. Prometheus In the Greek Myth of Prometheus we find something very similar. Prometheus really loved human beings. He created Human Beings from Clay. He stole light from the Gods and gave it to humanity so that they could have civilization. As a result of this Zeus sentence him to being bound to a rock, with an eagle (a symbol of Zeus) eating his liver every day and every day the liver would grown back. (According to the Jewish Kabbalah and Traditional Chinese Mediecen, Daniela Abravanel explains, the Liver represents our Will Power and it is in the area of the Solar Chakara...which is amazing because that too represents the will... The Eagle is also a very important symbol that I explained in my blog about Scorpio...referred to as the Eagle in the Kabbalah on December 24th.) Inanna and the 'Me' In Sumerian Myth it's the woman who steals manages to get this powerful force of knoweldge for herself...called 'the me' The 'me' was a set of information for a 'civilization plan' that the 'gods' didn't think humanity was ready to have. Inanna, an earth goddess, outwitted her fellow celestial god Enki and brought the 'Me' to Earth. Starting to sound like a familar tale? The story is a bit like Pandora's box because it contained at least sixty items including such abstract topics as Victory. Conclusion These are the examples that I feel fit this Archetype the most. I know I've coverd these before and I know that I included Maui previously. However, I've run out of time to complete this blog so I hope you do a little research on your own. I think the story of Adam Kadmon really helps illuminate the story. Thank you Brave Soul for examining this feature on the Path of the Seeker with me.

Now, this is an interesting complex subject
This is going to be a long blog and it's going to tie up a lot of loose threads some of you might perceive...and possibly blow your mind. We are going to explore the idea of the Trickster and what it really means. Not what our fear based ideas project onto the Trickster but what it really represents. The Trickster is usually seen as the sower of disorder. Where he goes chaos follows. I wonder if the Pepe the Frog Kek thing has to do with the The Trickster character. Aside from Source, I have come to a state of being that suggests that all other types of "Gods" were just used as a method of teaching knowledge. Both Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell recognized the Trickster archetype. There has been much confusion on this subject. We will look at the characters depicted through various spiritual practices that are Tricksters. Then, I will draw my conclusion. In our Current Paradigm on this planet the Trickster is something to Fear. If I say the Devil some religious people might faint. Just saying his name, the superstitious believe, draw's his attention. Once you cross that point where you realize that you are an immortal aspect of All-That-Is or Source there is no fear of destruction. What is it that you can fear when you are One with that which is and creates all? So, with that in mind....let's dive into what so frightens and terrifies humanity in their current frame of mind shall we? Ogo, The Pale Fox As always, when people try to understand stories from other cultures they project onto them. When doing a search of Ogo you might find a wealth of information. Most of it is taken, thanks to our prudish society, to be very sexual and dirty in nature. I am going to summarize what I read in the book Titled The Pale Fox by M.Griaule and G. Dieterlen. First and foremost, if this wasn't an important figure in the Dogon Cosmology...why is it that Griaule and Dietrlen named their book on the subject The Pale Fox as opposed to the creator deity's name- Amma? The story goes something like this: When Amma, the creator God of the Dogon was creating the cosmos he made eight sets of twins. One of those, Ogo, before his sister was fully formed, slipped loose of where he was supposed to stay and tore out a piece of the placenta from which he was born. He then took that part of the placenta and tried to create with it believing he was capable of creating a cosmos equal to Amma's. This brought disorder to what was once the orderly system of the cosmos. Because of this Amma took Ogo's Twin and hid her in the Sirius Star system. The Earth is the product of Ogo's disorder. Eight ancestors were sent an Ark to the earth. "...the shape, design, and proportions of the Ark express all of the principals and science humanity would need for the regorganization and at-one-ment (emphasis mine) of Ogo's Earth." The above excerpt is from this website which has a the full story of Ogo: http://www.secretoftheankh.com/?p=79. Keep in mind that this story is told differently for different levels of initiates. This is why there are so many versions. A lay person would be taught something very different from the more involved information the Dogon Priests. They believed that anyone who had serious inquiry and asked the right questions must be given the correct answers. Those who did not ask the right questions wouldn't be given the information.(This is normal in almost all spiritual systems). Prometheus Prometheus has conflicting myths about him. First, he was a Titan so he is one of those forces of nature that exists before mankind (much like Ogo). In one tale the Titan is the one who created mankind from clay. In two different tales he stole fire from the God's and gave it to mankind. In one story, he is said to have given it to them in a reed. In another story he is said to have returned the fire to them when Zeus wanted to keep it for cooking his own food. Either way, since he made Zeus angry Prometheus is tied to a stake where an Eagle eats his regenerating liver. The liver is a purifier...so, this symbolizes that the Titan is unable to purify his body. So again, we see the trickster who plays a role in the creation of mankind and represents a body that is kept in constant chaos (by not being able to purify). Source: http://www.ancient.eu/Prometheus/ Maui Again, we find that the Trickster Demi-God Maui is credited, in one version of the myth to have created mankind. In the myths he is abandoned by his mother who ties her Top Knot around him giving him the name Maui-Tiki-Tiki. The ocean then takes him to the Gods who save him. He too is credited with stealing the fire of the god's and giving it to humanity. Strangely, the Disney film depicted him pretty well so I'll just include the song, "Thank You," that really captures most of what I've read about the character. (https://youtu.be/79DijItQXMM). The one main difference, is that in some of the different myths he returns to his mothers house where he has three older brothers. (http://www.mythencyclopedia.com/Le-Me/Maui.html) Coyote This is from Jamie Sams Animal Medicine Cards: "There are thousands of myths and stories about Coyote, the great Trickster. Many native Cultures call Coyote the "Medicine Dog."....You can be sure that Coyote will teach you a lesson about yourself. Coyote has many magical powers, but they do not always work in his favor. His own trickery fools him. He is the master trickster that tricks himself. No one is more astonished then Coyote at the outcome of his own tricks. He falls into his own trap. And ye he somehow manages to survive. He may be banged and bruised by the experience, but he soon goes on his way to even greater error, forgetting to learn from his mistakes. He may have lost the battle, but he is never beaten. Coyote is sacred. In the folly of his acts we see our own foolishness. As Coyote moves from one disaster to the next, he refines the art of self-sabotage to sheer perfection. No one can blindly do themselves or others in with more grace and ease than this holy trickster. Coyote takes himself so serious at times that he cannot see the obvious; for example, the steam roller that is about to run over him. That is why, when it hits him, he still cannot believe it. "Was that really a steam roller? I better go look," he says. And he is run over once more. Contained within the trickster medicine is the humor of the ages. The cosmic joke is not just on ourselves but on everyone else, if they are following Coyote or have strong Coyote medicine. Someone like this may be able to convince others that a skunk smells like roses, but the fact remains it is still a skunk. Lucifer There are three words that are used interchangeably in dogmatic Christian tradition: Lucifer, Satan and The Devil. The Devil is undoubtedly a trickster character. Since Christianity is such a dominant religion delving into this subject for research can be intimidating. This can lead to a heck of a lot of confusion. For now, we will just look into the one word and how it has been used. Lucifer meant the Morning Star and it also referred to Venus. (Note: Jesus was reffered to as the Morning Star. This apparent contradiction will be explained). Again, Lucifer is called in Isaiah the Light Bearer. In Dogma (it's not in the bible at all) we are taught that Lucifer was the leader of a group of Angels. Those Angels turned on God, fell from grace and became Demons. They were cast out of heaven to their own domain of Hell where we will go if we are bad little boys or girls and don't listen to Christian Priests. Further, if you look at the book of Job we are told that it is The Devil or Satan that God consults with and decides that Job's faith must be tested. So not only is this character a Trickster but he is also the Tester. I think it is important to note in the Jewish religion there is no Lucifer/Satan/Devil character that is the equal and opposite of God ruling over a domain called Hell. That is entirely a Christian creation. The Morning Star Myths The Caananite God Attar was associated with the Morning Star. Attar attempted to take the throne of Baal and when he was not able to descended into the underworld. Ishtar/Innanna was also tied to the Morning Star, Venus. That character descended into the underworld to visit her sister. There she was crucified until two witnesses went to her one of the elder God's who then came to retrieve and revive her. The Babylonian god Etana was similar. In this case he wanted the highest seat among the divinities and was cast down by the supreme ruler. As we can see, what happens is there is a repetition of those who are associated with the Morning Star visiting the underworld. I have proposed before that Inanna was representative of the souls involution/descent into matter. Edgar Cacye Morning Stars In Reading 364-10 Edgar Cacye gives this amazing account of the start of creation: Hence we have that which has been given through many of the sources of information, or the channels for individuals - and in those, these, the entity - as a voice upon waters, or as the wind that moved among the reeds and harkened, or again as when the morning stars sang together and the sons of God beheld the coming of man into his own, through the various realms as were brought by the magnifying of, or the deteriorating of, the use of those forces and powers as manifested themselves in a material area..." Conclusion This blog contains hints of where I'm going with this information. What becomes clear is that the Trickster character is a self-sabotaging entity throughout many cultures. We seen an association with both light and visiting the Underworld. Also, another interesting note is that Light is the maximum limitation of our cosmos. Nothing can exceed the speed of light. Laird Scranton makes this observation when he explains that he believes that Ogo represents the scientific concept of Light. I propose that the Trickster character throughout myth is our Ego. Ego believes that it stole the light from Source so that it could make life in it's own image on the same level as God/Source. Therefore, we are the Fallen Angels, the Morning Stars, of the Christian mythos (again, this is not even slightly in the bible but was created entirely by the Roman Catholic Church) tricked by our own egos and probably the desire to experience eating into the involution into matter and forgetting our connection to Source. That story is nothing less then the same story as the fall of Adam which is a subject we will visit next Friday in a blog called: Meditating on Adam and the Garden. No doubt, to solidify their authority the Roman Catholic Church invoked Fear by creating the Devil. The Jewish people, from whom the Christian religion was born, had no such outside character tempting them into sin. The Roman Catholic Church turned the Trickster into an unnatural force outside of the individual that the individual had no control over....therefore they needed the Roman Catholic Church to keep them safe. We continue to glorify this idea in almost every Horror film. This is in error...but with all things what people believe they create and so they can truly make it appear that a demon can posses someone. The Ego is entirely something we create. I will explore more of this in a blog on Monday the 22nd. In our next blog we are going to delve into the concept that creation of Ego created disorder and how this lead to the illusion of separation. This is just a thread I've followed some books that I recently read. Strangely in a case of synchronicity, Light recently came up as an important part of two movies: Split and Guardians of the Galaxy with the character called Ego. The idea that the Light is what gives different personalities (alter egos) in Split, (each 'grabs the light') in order to control the body is fascinating. In Guardians, it was the awareness of the light that caused the planet Ego to become aware of itself (very similar to the outline of events that might have created our Universe that I will be covering in my next blog). By manipulating the Light that emanated from the brain at it's center Ego created an entire intricate world (although, devoid of life) and once the movie comes out on DVD I'll write a review but essentially the planet name Ego in the movie is the perfect metaphor for the human ego. |
