I know many people might find it truly odd that I love this card so much.
Who wants to see the life they have build crumble completely? I guess, once you hit a certain point on the Path of the Seeker you realize that there is so much value when the structures you have based your self worth and identity on crumble that it's not longer fearful. Yes, it can be hard. You get used to it and you start to develop a perspective where, even when bad things happen, you see the good in them. Finding the good in a bad situation is not the normal state of mind of most people in Western Society. In fact, trying to help others to see the good in bad situations can sometimes backfire to the point where they start attacking you. Most people are used to and choose to dwell on their misery. They don't really tell other people about their miserable situations to gain a different perspective....but simply because misery loves company. I would even call these people toxic...they're just too exceedingly common in our society that this is actually normal. Change Yourself And You Change The World The key, I've found is to focus only on myself. Now, that might not seem altruistic but I have found it's very rare for people to come to me for advice. I'm currently reading a book called by a Jewish Buddhist Lama. Yes, you heard that right. Entertainingly he quotes Yeshua (Jesus is the equivalent Roman name) a lot in his book. Yet, what struck me most is the idea he seems to think that people come to others for advice. I think perhaps, this is a warped point of view, since as a Tibetan Lama people see him as an authority figure and seek him out for advice. In the real world adults don't usually come to their peers for advice...at least not from a place where they can listen clearly. Usually, they just want an echo chamber. They want someone who reinforces their beliefs instead of challenges them...which they can pay a therapist for since that's what psychology has become. In fact, in today's world if you don't reflect back exactly what these people want to hear they may well consider you an enemy. At the end of the day we cannot determine other peoples behavior, however, we can only choose how we act. Once we realize that when people try to drag us down with stories of their misery we can let that information just run off of us. As we know that we are not responsible for their actions or their lives there is no reason to receive the gift of their misery. Recent Personal Experience I am far from perfect. Yet, with my recent experience with the Tower Card where the last of my rigid attachments had to be released- letting go of my dog Angel Korns who crossed over the rainbow bridge- and my truck...I can say that I have become very good at these crisis situations. Choosing to have Angel put down because she was suffering was probably the second hardest decision I had to make...the hardest decision I had to make was to take my daughter Lilith-Ann who was born prematurely off of life support in 2014. I wavered on the same brink of despair when the time came to let go of Angel that I fell into for over a year when I let Lilith-Ann go. However, being in a similar situation (down to the same hospital in a similar situation where I was in premature labor with Michelle) all of the psychological training from the Path of the Seeker came to the fore and I was able to pull myself back from the brink. To sit and analyze how the death of an animal or a person can be a good thing is hard. Most in our society, because no matter how many people may profess faith they actually believe death is the end, would detest the thought. We're almost expected to pull out our hair and make a show of our grief. In some cultures, such as the Irish they have women who wail incessantly for the deceased. In the Old Testament when someone died they would put on itchy sack cloth, smear ashes on their forehead and pull on their hair as they escorted the body to it's final resting place...strangers could even be hired to perform this task to make a funeral party more impressive. Yet, that's one of the ways that I could pull myself back from despair. I will have more time to spend with my other animals, as Angel tended to be the most needy, and the most insistent on receiving attention. I will be very busy when Michelle comes and I won't feel as guilty for not paying attention to Angel. Apollo doesn't require going out to the restroom as often as Angel did. He is also not as insistent about being fed. I'm sure there is more but those are the benefits I can think of off the top of my head Why Me? When we are going through a Tower experience (a Dark Night of the Soul) the best thing to do, even if you don't feel like it, is sit down and write a list of all the ways that it can benefit you. Believe it or not, that's usually the 'purpose' that your Higher Self decided to put you through that experience. There isn't much the Higher Self can do with a life where a person is not developing themselves spiritually and extremely stuck in their ways. In the worst case scenario the Higher Self might decide it's beneficial to end such a life with a really horrible painful disease or a very traumatic abrupt death. Just because you have all of the physical comforts and all of your physical desires met doesn't mean your soul is going to be satisfied. The soul came here to learn and to develop itself...not waste time collecting some temporary physical item. As Yeshua said in Matthew 6:19-20 "Don't store up for yourselves treasures on Earth where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal." As I quoted at the start of the video Rav Michael Laitman explains, "The Creator sends us troubles in order to bring us back to the purpose of Creation. Normally, if we are happy, we don't even care if the Creator exists...That is why He sends us troubles, so that we will remember Him. If we feel bad, we are compelled to think of the Creator." Pg. 293 Yet, for some reason we don't consider the Creator that way. We consider God to be this all loving being that only punishes people when they are bad much as our adults punish bad children. If we are good and seem to be doing what society thinks is the right way to go about things...we shouldn't be punished should we? We should be given all of the physical gifts and blessings that heaven can bequeath upon us. Our lives should be easy if we follow what society says makes us good people and says we should value. That's not how it works, however, because what society values and says is 'good' is usually at odds with what the Creator considers good. Most of society only seeks to profit on physical things and lack spiritual development. I can't think of any television show that even remotely suggests that spiritual development is a part of life...yet, most people think that the television depicts what Buddhists call 'right thinking'....that the television depiction of what is 'normal' is what all of us should strive for and want in our lives. When it's really just an echo of material reality devoid of all spirituality (because spiritual views are considered taboo...they can only be left to the priests of the religious institutions that can't even agree to disagree with one another whole preaching about love). Wake Up Call I got this phrase from Jamie Sams, a Native American author, who wrote many wonderful books. My favorite being Dancing the Dream. Just as Rav Michael Laitman stated...this is Spirit calling to us to Wake Up. There are lot of people who are called. Perhaps more now during this time of the Great Awakening then ever before and there are entire communities forming. Yet, there are a lot of people who will ignore or loathe the call. Like the people on the Tower card who were probably at the top of their game int he material world...when that lighting strike of inspiration knocks down the false tower of values they have built they mourn their false creation. They feel sorry and horrified for themselves. Usually, as I explained in my Dark Night of the Soul video people just go right back and build that tower up again. I know I did back in 2007. Without an ego structure through which to perceive the world we can feel vulnerable. When someone asks us, "Who are you?" We feel like we need to have a reply ready. If someone were to ask me that now I would shrug and say Bridget Korns without any elaboration for fear that if I said simply, "I am," I would trigger a negative emotional religious response. Conclusion The Tower Card is not evil. Only person who is clinging to material items to define themselves would see the Dark Night of the Soul as a tragedy. In truth, the Tower Card and all it represents holds the seeds for a powerful spiritual rebirth. Remember all of those Yod's that you saw in the Tower Card? Think of them as seeds that the Lightning strike that emanated from the sun (representing Source/The One Creator/God) that are being planted in your psyche. You can nourish them...just like the Mustard Seed parable suggests...or you can let them die and return to collecting material accomplishments that will eventually rot. The choice is up to you but the Creator did give you a choice and did specifically call to you with that Dark Night Of The Soul. When our false ego personality structures are torn down we have the opportunity to develop true freedom. We have the opportunity to start exploring and developing ourselves spiritually instead of focusing on material needs and goals but as it it must be a choice based on our Free Will...we can choose to go back to the methods and behaviors that set us up for the Wake Up call...potentially setting us up for an even more dramatic Wake Up call in the future. The Video's I Listed I know, in this video I referenced a lot of other videos that I made...seven in fact. Yet, this is one of the most important aspects of a person's Spiritual Awakening. A lot of people who go through a Dark Night of the Soul want to know about it just so they can get back to 'normal.' The subject is so involved and this card symbolizes so much, as do all of the Tarot Card Keys, that a short little video or blog hardly scratches the surface of the information. That's why I reference seven different videos that I created. I think they all hold a different perspective on this subject that will help widen your view of it a little bit more then it was previously. I prefer to keep my videos short and sweet so that you go out and do the additional research on your own. Luckily, in this case, the Tower Card is related to six videos I already made so you don't have to go looking too far. Even then, this information may not be enough to slake your thirst so I recommend the books that I reference in my videos.
