The Hebrew Letters that make up the name of the Sephiroth of Geburah are:
Gimel, Beit, Vav, Reish and Hei. Let's take a look to see what hidden meanings in the name of this Sephiroth! Gimel Starts the word for camel- Gamul- which represents the ability to nourish others by abstaining from water for 30 days and bearing a burden. According to Abravanel this is reminiscent of our spiritual Journey. Begins the word for exile (galut), paradise (gan eden) and bridge (Gamla). Also begins the words for great (gadol), mighty (gibor) and courage (Gevurah). Finally, it starts the word for loving kindness (gamelet hasidim). Beit First letter used in the bible. Begins the word for blessing (Beracha). Begins the word for House (Bayit). Also the name of the holy temple (Beit Hmikdosh). The words for places of study (batei midrash), social gathering (batei knesset) and prayer (batei tefilah). Finally, it starts the words for daughter (bat) and son (ben). Vav Abravanel describes this letter as Yud with a straight line down from it. Vav starts the word for hook. Vav is tied to the Sabbath and the importance of rest. The Hebrew word for confession also starts with Vav. Reish Reish starts the Hebrew word for Will. Resh begins the words for both Holy Spirit and Breath. Resh also starts the words for healer and healing. Both Abravanel and Hoffman connect Resh with meditation. Meditation involves the breath because it is through our breathing and the discipline of meditation that we eventually master our breath. Resh also starts the word for head, evil and noise. This suggests that it is the breath that we can create 'wise head' as Abravanel calls it. Associated with Mars. Hei Used twice in the Tetragrammaton. Was the first letter of Abraham and Moses response to the Creator meaning Here I am (heenayni). Also starts the letter for soul bearing- Hitbodedut. Abravanel associates Hei to speech, the Month of Redemption known as Nisan and the Tribe of Judah from which the Messiah will descend. Summary A bridge (Gimel) of the house/place of study for the son and daughter (Beth) of rest (Vav) to heal their will (Resh) and reveal speech (Hei). Image Impression First, there is the letter of Gimel that looks to me like a candle on a plate. That's followed by both the flame and the plate becoming longer in the letter Beit. That's followed by Vav where the 'plate' falls away completely so that the letter looks like just a candle. That's followed by the flame becoming even bigger and the pillar of the candle shrinking for Reish....and finally there is Hei that looks like an open door. Conclusion Knowing the story of Adam Kadmon and the Purpose of Humanity (a link to that blog is on the right side bar menu) this word is perfect for this Sephiroth. In this word we can literally see how and why PMR (Physical Material Reality) was created. Geburah literally represents a bridge or constriction between the Creator and PMR. It even explains that reality was created as a house for the sons and daughters of humanity so that they could heal the problem of misusing their will power (mars energy). The misuse of the Will Power occurs when people use their will power to create only for themselves- not for all of humanity and the One Creator. Every time we undertake an endeavor we should ask ourselves, "Will this benefit all of humanity (and thereby the One Creator) or am I doing this solely for myself?" When we operate from that place of doing everything for the betterment of everyone we are working in Grace. When we operate from a place of selfish gain it 'misses the mark' or the 'goal' of PMR (sin).

Now, this is one of those blog concepts that's been percolating in my brain for a long time. A very long time...over a year.
I kept having the same dream with the same image but I didn't get it. The image was of the sword in the stone and me pulling out the sword. The Sephiroth Geburah represents the Sword. Now, keep in mind I like the old Disney movie of the Sword in the Stone...but that's about the only depiction I've seen with an actual...sword in in the stone. I do have the Wisdom of Avalon Tarot set by Colette Baron-Reid...it's the first I ever bought for myself...and I do love the book series that started with the Mists of Avalon. Yet, none of these really explained the dream. One of the variants of the myth is that the lady of the Lake gives the Sword to King Arthur. Before I didn't have the symbolic components to explain what Lady Of The Lake The Lady of the Lake is the subconscious with all of it's emotions and underlying currents of feelings. In Kabbalah this is Binah. Anyone on the Seekers Path must first befriend the Lady of the Lake to proceed further. We have to face our fears...our repressed Shadow. Then she becomes friendly and she gives us the sword. The Sword The Sword is discernment...knowing good and evil. The Ego is a by product of accepting the sword of discernment...this is how the Sephiroth Geburah ties in with the legend of King Arthur. This is what caused the Fall form Grace of Humanity. The Fall into Sin...and the sin is simply missing the Mark...aiming for the wrong goals. From Rav Michael Laitman we learned that the goal that we are failing to achieve is the desire to receive to bestowal. Instead we receive for selfish reasons. Too often people buy things for themselves only to receive them...for themselves. They cultivate talents of creativity...only for themselves to profit off of and when people do try to share what they produced they sue. Legal proprietary laws are numerous and copyright laws are also numerous. People, in general, create with the primary purpose of profit...which is missing the mark. When we learn to create to bestowal...to create to share with others...the lesson is learned. Yes, we could probably profit off of it but we see other areas of our life prosper as a result...whereas greed usually results only in profit while other areas of life including personal relationships become stagnant. The Stone The Stone is the Cube of Space/Time/Saturn that we talked about when we discussed the Sephiroth of Tiphareth. You can find a link to that in the sidebar. That stone was created as a result of the 'fall.' We live in this little box of our own creation...it's from our conditioning and our fears. We think that little box can hide us from the One Creator and...the One Creator is more then happy to let us have that illusion as long as we need. As we will learn when we explore the Sephiroth of Chesed...this entire experience has helped us create our own individuality (which raises us above the angels in a way) but in order to restore communication with the One Creator we have to make the choice to restore the communication and let go of our fear of being 'naked' before him. Removing the Sword We remove the sword from the stone when we let go of discernment. When we realize that everything in Creation comes from the One Creator- both what we call Good and Evil. There is precedence of this in the bible: Isaiah 45:7: "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things." However, this does not validate that good and evil actually exist. Prior to eating of the Tree of Knowledge...we were not aware of the existence of darkness or light. In truth, along the Path of the Seeker we learn about Subjective Reality. You can watch my YouTube video on this subject here: Subjective Reality contains one fundamentally vital component we must realize in order to remove the Sword from the Stone and release ourselves from the bondage of Death and Rebirth. Everything in Creation...everything the One Creator and all the forms of the One Creator (from the Rays, to the Angels, to the lowliest bugs) uses to create...are FUNDAMENTALLY NEUTRAL. We only assign the value of Good or Evil to an object, situation, place or thing...AFTER WE ENCOUNTER IT. Prior to that encounter and our experience with it...which is all based on conditioned thinking patterns based on our past experiences... that person, place, experience or think...existed entirely in a neutral form. When we let go of naming things good or evil (a monumental task) we pull the sword from the stone... Then we become the King or Queen of the Kingdom of Malkuth. Each of us live within our own little reality bubble...our own Kingdom. Becoming the King or Queen of our own Kingdom does not imply dominion over others. To the contrary...as Yeshua said so perfectly...it makes you the servant of all because you realize how everyone that you encounter is also part of the One Creator...and that we are all One. We go from behaving as a Cancer Cell in the body of the One Creator to being the cell that contributes to the whole. Conclusion I know this seems like a very short blog. Perhaps, if you are hungry for more you should read more articles in these blogs and watch my series on the number 7. Either way, I am very content in finally understanding the purpose of those repetitive Sword in the stone Dreams. Discernment is something we do need to learn. Becoming a unique individual to speed up our Spiritual Development is not a horrible thing either and the Fall is the damning experience that the Catholic and Christian Church portrays. Earth is just a learning experience for our souls that helps us develop quickly so we can be interesting companions to the One Creator...not some sort of existential form of torture that we must endure as a form of punishment for our ancestors actions. I encourage you to explore this subject on your own. See if this interpretation holds true for you in your heart. Thank you Brave Soul for joining me on the Path of the Seeker! May you find joy and peace for your soul during our journeys! A Note On The Images I just want to point out some symbolism of the image from Disney's Sword In The Stone movie above and the image from Collette Baron Reid's The Wisdom of Avalon Oracle Card sets. First, above...notice anything about the hair color or the outfit that Arthur wears...well...check out the Fool Card. Yellow, we learned in our study of the Tarot, represents Air. Again, with the Fool Card, we knwo that Red represents Desire and Malkuth (Kingdom) our plane of existence (PMR- Physical Material Reality). Below we have the Lady of the Lake...the color of the card is Purple...the color of royalty. She emerges from the water with a pair of stones behind her. I think that the meanings associate with the card- Absolute Truth, Courage, Self-Respect, and Responsibility shows all that we gain through the experience of Discernment...or learning about Good and Evil. As Marcus Katz says...when we descended we were full of a naieve ignorant sort of love. As we ascend we have gained understanding of the One Creator...our love is deep and filled with respect. So again, the Earth experience is valuable on a soul level. This is not punishment...it's a lesson just as when a child puts their hand in the fire we don't sock them...we teach them why fire is dangerous. Then they have respect for the fire. |
