My husband and I have had some pretty long conversations about why Hollywood keeps rehashing old idea's and creating franchises. True, the Marvel franchise works but that's because it's based on a long established history of hundreds of characters.
We've also talked about how music sucks these days. Some will say it's because it's the accessibility of cheap equipment, some will say it's because the generations after the Milennial's lack the intelligence to play musical instruments, and still more will say it's because labels want to market people based on their looks and not talent. However, I disagree with all of these. I've seen a real lack in every creative activity including video games, art, movies, books and music. Even science has slowed down considerably. A lot of the 'innovations' we see coming out today were invented prior to 2000. Companies were just holding onto the ideas because they want to exploit each trend for as long as possible. Designs are being improved but that's the extent of the creativity even in science. That has lead me to wonder...is Creativity Dying in the United States and if so...Why? As you can tell by the preceding moving clip the phenomenon reminds me of the concept of the Nothing in the Never Ending Story. "(Every part of Fantasia)...is a piece of the dreams and hopes of mankind...people have begun to lose their hopes and forget their dreams so the Nothing grows stronger...it's the emptiness that is left...it is like a despair...because people who have no hopes are easy to control and whoever has the control has the power." The Dystopian Future Phenomenon A vast majority of humanity, and thus the collective consciousness, has decided that the civilization is going to fall leading to oppression by some big government. Yet, they seem to want big government so it's not a logical idea to hold. This theme is the most prevalent in the Young Adult movies including Hunger Games, Maze Runner and Ready Player One. Yet, they are equally present in movies such as Arrival, Annihilation and the Planet of the Ape's series (which I never watched). We first started to see this them back in 2007 when V for Vendetta came out. The Millennial's have no hope. They felt they were promised that they would all be famous and become millionaires. The only thing they really contributed to society are raves with ridiculous drug use that always kills at least a couple of people...which doesn't deter them from attending. Now that they are in their 20's and 30's they are resentful. Their vast majority of children born to Millennial's who had kids in their early twenties have named themselves 'the Founders' (although big established news centers are trying to call them something else). Yet, this indicates these kids really believe that the previous generations are going to mess up this planet so badly that they are going to have to reestablish civilization. I guess that's what happens when you grow up without faith in any form of a Higher Power and believing that Climate Change will inevitably wipe most species of the planet. This was long before Donald Trump so you can't blame the current president. Where Is The Creativity? There is no excuse for why creative people can't get their material out there. We have YouTube. We have free websites. We have free Social Media websites like Facebook and Twitter. Strangely, the thing is that there is creativity out there but it's not in the previous modes or channels. A lot of it is happening on YouTube. Lindsey Stirling is a great example of someone that main stream channels rejected. Yet, her persistence, unique music and here astounding music video productions made her successful...she is one of a kind. There is the entire ASMR phenomenon that I will cover soon that is extremely creative and Millions of people follow but would never have been developed through traditional media or television production. That was something that was entirely evolved online through communities. I will be covering that in a blog later. Then there are people like Ryukahr who entertain people by playing video games. I never thought I'd be sucked into watching someone else play video games but he is just a delightful, grounded, self-secure and peaceful person that he is a joy to watch. In a way he causes people to meditate and just 'tune out' of the ordinary every day concerns by enjoying him beat ridiculously hard Mario levels. So, the creativity is out there but it's happening in very small niche markets. So, why are these off beat self-made people being successful in new industries where as the established industries of Music, Literature and Film are completely stagnant? The issue lies within society itself. Companies are not willing to take risks anymore. Society is extremely fickle. Even with the economy recovering people are still hesitant about spending their money of frivolous expenditures. Imagination Is Not Valued Part of the dystopian attitude has to do with the lack of imagination. We have become so focused on the High Priests of Science (to use Thomas Campbell's term) that believe life on this planet was random chance that is short lived while also thinking that humans are the highest form of intelligence possible in the cosmos...that it leaves no room for hope. They call themselves 'realists' and they devalue anyone who thinks differently. Those who believe in a higher power in any form are typically called insane or dismissed as ignorant. Intelligence, they teach, arises from the chemicals and electrical connections (neural pathways) of the brain. Although, they can't prove how that works and they have very little understanding of it. Much like Genetics, they have maps/images of the brain, but they have no idea how consciousness might arise from it. For the most part, in cognitive psychology, they have decided that the brain is just a huge computer that some day we will be able to program. Whether it's genes or the brain science really believes they will Control the genes or brain one day. Society, for the most part, seems to believe this form of control would be a good thing because it would lead to some sort of Utopian society where everyone will live forever, be equal, and eliminate suffering. However, as the ideas expressed in the original Jurassic Park suggest...when mankind takes the control away from nature weird and negative things occur. Just like purebred dogs, a more primitive form of controlling genes through selective breeding, have a lot of issues...so too genetic manipulation would probably lead to similar unforeseen issues. When nature is not respected for the tried, true and tested natural Order that it represents but is seen as random and cruel chance...this sort of perversion controlling and manipulating nature occurs. Unfortunately, this sort of belief (that nature can and must be controlled) causes so much fear in people that they willingly allow themselves to be manipulated by those claiming to have the power to produce order out of this supposed natural chaos. The focus on memorization and the ability to spit out facts is equally detrimental to Imagination. After all, intelligence is measured by a persons ability to memorize and repeat information. Yet, knowledge is not wisdom. Knowing that there is a frog named Tutu in the Amazon forest does nothing to improve the quality day to day life of the individual. While it might impress some such memorization is neither creative or productive unless one is taking at test, playing Jeopardy or a competeing in a Spelling Bee. In effect, humans have placed a huge amount of value on useless memorization of facts that doesn't benefit society. The Buddhists call this 'naming activity' and it's seen as being relatively futile and something that people should grow out of at some point. Disrespect Of The Subconscious The Subconscious itself is written off as unimportant or as a mechanism to manipulate to get more material things. Dreams are dismissed as the brain 'crunching data' and nothing more...as though humans were merely robots. Part of this dismissal of the value of the subconscious comes...again...from Science. Cognitive Psychology, while partially of benefit, is partly to blame for this idea. If the human brain is just a biological machine and nothing more then it's underlying programs have no inherent value. Only the Waking Consciousness of the Mind is valued. As I explained, for centuries the greatest thinkers have known that their dreams have value. Einsteins best ideas came from dreams. Those who can tap into their subconscious and pull out wonderful images, stories and inventions are of extreme value to society. They drive society. Yet science and our educational institutions tell us that our dreams and imagination have no value. They are useless and childish. A child that can not memorize facts to pass a test is considered deficient. Part of this is, undoubtedly, is because a society filled with creative individuals do not make for a passive working population. Government, after all, evaluates the health of their country by the cost of goods and the amount of the population able to produce goods. The working stiff in an established corporation is not encouraged to color outside of the lines because Group Think forbids it. They are merely needed to fill their slots. Opinions and input are not valued by the average manager. The same has happened in Academia where to disagree with the group will cause perfectly qualified individuals to be tossed out on their ear and condemned by their colleagues to obscurity. Carly Jung would not be welcome on a college campus today because his ideas were just too wild. There is a reason that some of his books, including the one on Alchemy, are not being reprinted and the originals have a price tag of over $100. While Psychology has embraced some of his ideas and taught them in colleges they have shunned and attempted to suppress information about his more creative contributions that he wrote due to his ability to think outside of the box. A Larger Psychological Shadow As long as we, as a society, deny the power of the subconscious we will continue to see this static state of creativity with a few brave souls in off beat niches defying the norm. Nature does not like static closed systems...and so that which does not continue to grow and be creative will inevitably fall apart. Further, when we deny the power of the Subconscious we encourage people to repress the contents of their Subconscious. This creates a huge Psychological Shadow. As I have explained often, and you can look it up in the side bar, the Subconscious Shadow controls people making them act and behave in ways they don't understand...and logically harms them...whether the result is obesity, alcoholism or drug abuse. Conclusion Our approach to the Subconscious in the United States needs to change. We need to bring the Arts back into our schools and encourage imaginative play. We need to value hands on physical jobs the same way we value intellectual/managerial jobs. We need to start encouraging our kids to play imaginative games instead of being entertained by something outside of themselves that someone else has produced in the form of tablets, video games or unrealistic television shows. We need to encourage discussions about dreams. We need to encourage the expression of emotions and discussion of how to work with our emotions instead of repressing them. Right now society only views two emotions as acceptable- passive positivity or indignant anger. Memorizing information and facts will not solve the overwhelming amount of mental health issues in the United States. We need to teach people how to transform their Shadow into the the benevolent subconscious that drives imagination and creativity. The healthy expression of imagination and subconscious needs to be encouraged. Otherwise we will become a society of genetically created drugged up robots that will eventually willingly kill off our natural emotions and imagination. Such an artificial society cut off from nature will inevitably fail.

I remember when I first came across the concept labeled, "The Return of The Goddess."
I rolled my eyes. Based on how I was raised there is only one 'god' and that's not female. The idea of divine feminine or the idea of the 'return of the goddess' seemed to be pushed by man hating women who wanted to see the patriarchal system fall apart. I didn't believe in a Divine Feminine influene. In the Christian church, as with the Muslim Faith and the customs of Rome and Greece...the importance of females have been completely torn down and undervalued. Yes, there is some respect of females but it's very minor. Women are seen as property with their only importance or contribution being to produce heirs. The way that people value the Subconscious is directly in line with how women have been treated on this planet. You could say that the symbolism of the Female with the Subconscious and the Male with the Waking Consciousness is just a convenient symbol that was created by humanity. Yet, if you work with Universal Archetypes- whether in your dreams, Tarot Systems or Oracle Cards- you learn pretty quickly that the Divine Feminine has a very strong and clear influence. My experience with my dreams has indicated that the Subconscious is always depicted as female. There was absolutely no reason why that should be the case based on my personal direct life experiences. Yes, some symbols are personal to you but when it comes to the Universal Archetypes that is just not the case. The waking consciousness is always depicted as male. My husband, in my dreams, is my egoic-waking consciousness. When I dream about him I know that it has something to do with that state of consciousness and not the actual person. If it does have to do with him as a an actual person the feel is different and he acts differently. Once you start working with both aspects of yourself you can start to create what Dennis William Hauck calls the Overself which is a combination of those two working in harmony which creates a third form of awareness which is close to enlightenment. That is the result of Shadow Work. (Here's my YouTube video on working with the shadow: https://youtu.be/F1cv5oyV_1c ). But I've talked about all of that before and today I want to talk about this idea of the Return of the Goddess and what it really means to me. I am not an angry man hater. I do not want to see the straight white men of this world punished for the fact that they were born a 'favored' gender. I don't believe in revenge. Return of the Goddess What does that mean exactly? Do I think a female goddess is going to show up somehow and change everything? No, I see it more as the Divine Feminine. A growing respect for the women in the world and an equalization with men. The going is a bit tough because women face more complications then me- for example, childbirth. The process has been slow. The women's sufferage movement started in the 1840's but didn't become nationally accepted in the United States until nearly 100 years later in the 1920's. The process has been sorely misunderstood by main stream society. Again, the man haters get most of the attention but most women just want to be respected as fully equal human partners to the men in their lives. Whenever a correction is made, however, it always sends the system a little out of whack for a little while and I think that's mostly what we've been seeing. Implications Recently there have been magnificent Archetypes out there that embody this concept. Doesn't it say a lot that it took over eighty years for strong female characters that can be the main protagonist in their own movies to appear? Even though Hollywood claims to be progressive their attempts have often lacked true perception as it's an industry still run by men. The World has seen correction before...most recently it was the correction of polytheism to monotheism that occurred thanks to Jesus over two thousand years ago. The purely Collective Consciousness had it's time of expression and correction in the days of Lemuria. Conscious/Subconscious Connection The Return of the Goddess doesn't mean that the Subconscious, symbolized by the female archetype, will reign supreme over the Waking Consciousness (often depicted as Male). Instead, it will be a balance where the Subconscious that is so often disregarded starts to be explored. Having the Subconscious become disregarded was also necessary for a time. While the unfortunate side-effect of the Shadow is that it created 'lower worlds' where our disowned issues manifested...it was necessary. Having a disconnection with the Divine and all of the beings of that Realm gave humanity the room to safely explore themselves (other beings are afraid of us...we're like the Klingon's of Star Trek because we can't control our emotions thanks to the existence of the subconscious and the Ego Construct). We were allowed to create our individuality which was paramount for us to maintain a sense of self when we interact with beings of other realms. That's why the enforcement of a robotic emotionless workforce that we are witnessing today is just not working...it's a lame attempt to get back to that Group Consciousness which would completely defeat the purpose of our existence in the School called Earth. That's why it won't sustain itself. We won't be going back to that Collective Consciousness state where we act as One Mind because that wold defeat the purpose of multiplicity. We are leaving the time of the Waking Consciousness/Subconscious duality experience symbolized the strongest in the Age of Pisces by the image of the Two Fish pulling in opposite directions. We're heading into a time where the energetic watery Mind Substance, kept at a minimum for so long, will start to flood everyone...and that's what's leading to the mass awakening. So, really, the return of the Goddess is the recognition of the importance of the Subconscious, the balance of the subconscious with the waking consciousness and a reconnection with Spirit which will help us return to a balance with the rest of Creation. In another light, from looking at the Kabbalah Tree of Life....Malkuth (Kingdom) which fell will be Return to the Tree of Life. All the Angelic beings that were cut off from interacting directly with men so that they could develop themselves will be able to return because we won't be tempted to worship them. The Three Aspects of The Goddess Most ancient male Gods are singular in nature. They don't really have counterparts. (Except for the Christian Trinity, a particular perspective of some of the Egyptian Gods and perhaps the Sumeria/Babylonian Anu, Enki and Enlil). For some reason, the Female Goddesses have always been worshiped as Three. Wicca, for example, talks about The Virgin, The Crone and the Mother. Usually, this is attached to the three phases of the moon. So, it makes sense. You could rationalize it as simply worshiping an aspect of Nature. New Moon = The Virgin. The Mother = Full Moon. Waxing Moon = Crone. Yet, the practice is even older then that... The Divine Mother In Kabbalah there are only two females...Binah (Knowledge), who represents the Primordial Waters from which all of Creation is made....and Malkuth (Kingdom). The most Ancient depiction and documentation of the Three Goddesses that we have dates back to Egypt. The three Goddesses are Hathor, Isis and her sister Nephthys. All of their glyphs consist of Falcons. Hathor is described as the Bull. Isis is the bright sister associated with the star Sirius and Nepthys is her dark sister most likely representing Sirius B. Isis/Hathor are often considered the same being (with documented worship of Hathor occurring prior to that of Isis and Hathor- in some texts- being Isis' (and therefore Nepthy's) mother). You might see where I'm going here... There is another set of triple Goddesses that Laird Scranton has pin pointed but there's not much documentation about them. That's the Hindu goddesses usually referred to as the Sakti. The two sisters names are Dharni Penu and Tana Penu. There isn't much there to describe but it does seem to point to the same connection between Sirius A and Sirius B. In his most recent book on the Maori Laird recently explained the Maori of New Zealand, in compliance with the ancient cosmology he has identified, also seem to have two sisters associated with Sirius A and Sirius B: " A Maori word for "sister", tuakana, is formed on the root tua which is cosmological phonetic for "star" in some cultures. In keeping with one of the signatures of the cosmology, the Maori conceive of Sirius as the Dog Star, and refer to it as Takurua. Similarly, there is a tradition of sisterly instruction among the Maori known as a Tuakana-Teina relationship." Even more fascinating is a paragraph I just read today in Paul Foster Case's book on Alchemy, "The term "Catholic Magnesia," mentioned in a prior section, is often employed as a name for the First Matter. The adjective, "catholic," is to be understood as meaning "universal, infinite, all-pervading." As employed in alchemy, "magnesia" means Magnos Lithos, or lodestone and thus refers to the magnetic power peculiar to that mineral. According to exoteric derivations, the magnet is named after the place Magnesia, in Thessaly. Occultists are aware, however, that both "magnet" and "magic" are related to the Sanskirt terms Mahat and Maya. The Catholic Magnesia, or Universal Magnet, is the universal attractive principal and is a mode of consciousness,or intelligence. Therefore it is correctly symbolized by that Tarot Key which presents the Uniting Intelligence. Furthermore, the title of that Key, High Priestess, means "chief feminine elder" and thus intimates what we have found to be a characteristic of chemical and yoga descriptions of the Prima Materia. They all agree that the mysterious power is feminine in its quality, and again and again they use the pronoun "she" in referring to it." (pg 66 Hermetic Alchemy by Paul Foster Case) This passage reminds me of how Thomas Campbell describes the original state of the cosmos before Physical Material Reality existed. He calls this A.U.O. (Absolute Unbounded Oneness). He leaves all of the mystical information out, the connection to the feminine (in fact he refers to it as male- typical male thing to do when you go off the beaten track and try to leave Big Theory's of Everything that belonged to previous generations in the dust) but he describes it in plain terms I appreciate: "...Let's start with the most difficult concept first, the one that appears mystical from the PMR (physical matter reality) point of view. This concept assumes the existence of an apparently (not necessarily actually) infinite absolute something: A Oneness that is uniform, plain, and without differentiation. This apparently infinite source of our larger reality has no discernible boundaries, edges or limits (as a perfectly calm ocean would appear to you if you were floating in the middle of it). This something would seem to be, and has often been called, "All That Is," "The One," "The Void," "The Primordial Big Dude", and other similar philosophical descriptions. It represents the fundamental core of existence. It is a familiar concept to various religious and spiritual conceptualizations. An absolute no-thing, pervasive, yet existing beyond our space and time. It is simultaneously everything (in potential) and nothing (no-thing, no differentiation or boundaries). There is a lot of information from Laird Scranton I could use to further expand on this thread of thought but I'm digressing. Suffice to say that this A.U.O., as Thomas Campbell calls it, is a universal concept shared by many cultures. I will throw in but one more thing which is from Indigenous/Native American author Jamie Sams to illustrate this is a multi-continent and multi-racial depiction in every cosmology: "The Mayans call the center of our universe the Huna K'u'. The Southern Seers call this place the heart of the Great Mystery. That heart of all contains the pregnant void of Creation and exists beyond the enormous bright light that people see in near-death experiences. Beyond chaos and beyond order, the heart of the universe contains such a vast nothingness that Dream Weave explorers can become lost or consumed by the void. The heart of the Great Mystery is the original Sacred Point of View, which created this universe. The void is unknown and unknowable because it contains all that has not taken on energy or developed form." pg 220 Dancing the Dream by Jamie Sams Now, there is the A.U.O. that is unchanging. We're not really part of that aspect of creation. We are part of A.U.M. This is the Absolute Unbounded Multiplicity...the one becoming many. Hence, why Bashar refers to this part as "the Broken Mirror." We contain everything that A.U.O. contains but we each sense our separation. The Chaotic Waters Of Creation What came first, of course, were the chaotic waters. This is described by Laird Scranton in his books. He describes a primordial darkness that was disturbed by the perception of self (which he associates with light) and that made it chaotic. This might be why a Physical Matter Reality was required. That original state, which we can tune into when we work with our Subconscious- the Collective Conscious- is chaotic. Plus, in that state each individual shard was very slow to learn because they had no restriction....restrictions and limitations help us learn about ourselves. Also, due to the dream I have become aware of the connection to Tamas. I had a dream that my "tamas" was activated. I first thought it was the word Tammuz, a Sumerian God, but it wasn't right. I knew it wasn't the name Thomas but it sounded similar. This is an 'activation' that I have been fighting for a bit. I resisted this 'activation' for a long time. There were multiple dreams where I was like, "Nope." Working with this information about the Goddess or Subconscious allowed for this to finally happen. Here's what Wikipedia states Tama's is, " The Vedic word támas refers to "darkness" ... is one of the three Gunas (tendencies, qualities, attributes), a philosophical and psychological concept developed by the Samkhya school of Hindu philosophy.[1] The other two qualities are rajas (passion and activity) and sattva (purity, goodness). Tamas is the quality of imbalance, disorder, chaos, anxiety, impurity, destruction, delusion, negativity, dullness or inactivity, apathy, inertia or lethargy, violence, viciousness, ignorance." I need to study that subject more in depth but this is just one of those instances where our dreams will indicate the next step on our path. Rajas defintely equates to the Male/Sun/Waking Consciousness energy. I'd say that Sattva probably has to do with this concept of the Overself. The Overself is the balance of the conscious waking mind (Rajas?) and the subconscious (Tamas)....into a new form where both are in balance with each other...which is would be a far more pure form of consciousness. The Sun and Moon As I explained in my Travelers Notes on Integrating the Shadow (here is the link) the sun and moon are traditionally connected to two deities. One is Female and One is Male. The Female is usually depicted as the Circle or Moon or the Compass (because it makes a circle). This is the latent energy of the void...or what Thomas Campbell called A.U.O. (Absolute Unbounded Oneness.) In A.U.M. this is the Collective Consciousness (which is currently the collective Subconscious). In Hindu traditions this would be called Brahmen. The Male is usually depicted as the Square or Sun or the tool called the Square (because it makes a square). This is the active energy a part of which is physical matter reality (what Thomas Campbell calls P.M.R.) and it's A.U.M. (Absolute Unbounded Manifold). In the Hindu traditions this would be Atman. There are two popular symbols showing this imagery. One is the Chinese Goddes and God Nuwa and Fuxi. The other is the Free Masons Square and Compass. Freemasons often talk about 'squaring the circle.' Is it necessary that one is male and the other female? Not really but for some reason the subconsious always represents these concepts this way in dreams and in through creative works such as movies and books. Don't believe me? These dream symbols were so prevalent that Carl Jung was drawn into studying Alchemy and wrote more then one book on the subject...which are pricey. Our Personal Sun and Moon Well, all of that is well and good but what does that mean for you personally? The most important factor this plays in our personal life is what I covered this in my video about Integrating the Shadow. Here the principal of "As Above so Below" comes into place. Our Consciousness is a miniature replica of the One Creator. We will see the imagery of the male/female dynamic a lot when we go through the 7 Tarot Keys of the Path of the Seeker. The Subconscious is our watery/emotional female circle energy. Our Conscious is the fiery/action oriented male square energy. We, like the One Creator- are divided into two. The Path leads us to reconcile this duality within ourselves. We do this by bringing our Subconscious into an interactive relationship with our Consciousness. This process leads to the Ego/Persona dissolving. That doesn't mean that our waking consciousness that perceives itself separately from everything dissolves. We are still "Me" in every essence of the word and can sense that others are "You" but we have an appreciation that we are both separate and one on another level of perception that we can tune into at will. We can start to recognize how we affect the Collective Subconscious and work with it in order to ensure that the Will of the Creator is acted out on Earth. We shouldn't be waiting for Jesus or some other figure to return to do the work for us...we can start that work right now. Conclusion I think it's beautiful how our society reflects back what's happening on the Collective Subconscious level. I really find it neat that we are headed into a period where the importance of the Subconscious is being known. The Collective (sub)Consciousness coming to the fore now is also very important. There is almost a universal sense of humanity being at a cross roads. Bashar calls it the two train tracks which I explained here: https://bridgetkorns.weebly.com/blog/the-two-trains-timeline-metaphor-decoded. I don't know about you but I prefer to be on the train with the happy ending. Most of the turmoil we see in the world is the result of people fighting this influx of subconscious energy. This brings a lot of the shadow elements, a persons real beliefs and hatreds to the surface, how they respond to that is entirely up to them and indicates which path they are going to choose. That's why more people are losing their psychological marbles on a more public scale. With the energy from Spirit so increased they cannot hide from the demon of their repressed subconscious any longer. All are eternal beings, they just might not be capable of going into the New Age because they haven't learned the lessons necessary to be individuals operating in conjunction with the One Creator. They're still developing their sense of self...and there is no judgement. All of us who are ready were once there...many lives ago. We live in wonderful and amazing times. A lot of us are raised thinking our emotions and sexual urges are bad. When we have an emotional reaciton to something our parents usually get upset and tell us it's not right. In the United States we live in a society that has frozen emotions for a long time. People would prefer to be a robot to being an emotional or sexual human being. All of those emotions have to go somewhere and so they go into the Shadow. This is a mental construct that we start building of our disowned aspects as a child and add to throughout adulthood unless we become cionsciously aware of it. The shadow is a concept that Carl Jung coined. He said that each person creaetes a dark palce within themselves. That dark place is where the send all of their undesired pieces. All of the undesired urges or feelings or thoughts or behaviors. Here is a direct quote from Carl Jung: "The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. ... One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious." What Happens When You Disown The Shadow? By casting out all of these ideas, concepts, urges and thoughts into this shadow we disown them. Then they take on a life of their own. We denial our emotional heirtage as human beings. We become less human and more robotic or Zombie like. This is why I call people who are not awake Zombies. They go about controlled by urges they do not comprehend. The reason they don't comprehend where the emotions come from is because they have shoved that part of themselves into their shadow so deeply they no longer reconize it as being a part of themselves. Anyone who has problems with rage and depression knows how the Shadow can hold onto them. How it seems to control them. They may resort to the idea that 'demons' are plaguing them or someone has 'cursed' them. This is not true at all...in fact, it allows the person to distance themselves even further from the aspect of themselves that they wish to disown. The people in such states are not dealing with the Repressed feelings within the Shadow...and so become controlled by them. Their fear of dealing withi that repressed item causes them to go to great lengths to deny that it occurs. Starts In Childhood Now, this process starts when your a child. Your parents say don't do this and don't do that. That's not nice, etc. All of the experiences that brought you pain or sadness are usually sent to the shadow. If you have a horrible experience you don't understand in child hood...it goes into the shadow. That aspect needs to be healed but few people are courageous enough to return to that memory and heal it. They try to ignore it, they bury it and they may forget about it...but there it is in the shadow waiting for the individual to reach out and look at it with a new filter...a new perspctive (which is the greatest form of healing). Emotions in particular are usualy sent to the shadow because most parents tell their kids not to cry or be angry which are natural important reactions to stimulus. They are very approrpiate at times. They are very powerful tools in transformation. All of the things your parents say you shouldn't think or do goes straight to the shadow where it is forgotten because you think that having those feelings, urges, questions or ideas will harm you. As An Adult As an adult you continue to operate under the belief that these concepts are not acceptable and you may add to them with experience. I've encountered many people who were at odds with themselves. They knew they had a part of themselves that they did not understand...that they denied...but they didn't have the right filter to comprhend it and their suffering was immeasurable. All of this goes into the subconscious and you are not aware of where the urges come from to do certain things. In fact, it controls your entire state of mind resulting in either anger issues or depression. This can lead to extreme schizophrenia as the human being literally rejects their humanity and reality. For me, at one point even trying to do something was hard because I always felt defeated. As though no matter how I tried things never worked out so why bother? I felt this huge weight. I was frozen in life because I felt that no matter what I would do it would be a huge uphill battle. A lot of people who've created a big shadow don't even understand the urges that they have or why the behave a certain way. Any form of release from the presence of the shadow...whether its drugs or alcohol. Embracing The Shadow Don't hide from your emotions. Dig deeply into them and meditate on them. If you like to write have a journal. When you experience an uncomfortable emotion write about it. Usually, it will come out when you disowned a reaction to a situation. Just this week on Peter Woodbury's personal Facebook there was a huge discussion. He posted this Meme: If you prefer to talk it out and you have a good friend that will listen without offering advice or trying to 'fix' the situation then call them up. If you don't have a friend capable of that support try finding a therapist.
Once you can identify the emotion you can feel it. Describe how it feels in your body. Don't fight it. Describe what it makes you think. Does it remind you of a memory? Does it remind you of a person? This is where you develop the Heart of Compassion. Yes, sometimes, it feels like this process can be endless. You're constantly discovering a new aspect of yourself that you had hidden or buried and integrating it. However, this process is so crucial to your development because it brings everything into your consciousness. Depression, manic behavior and anger issues disappear. You've identified where they come from and released them. This awareness brings an amazing amount of freedom and a depth to life that one cannot experience until they allow themselves to Feel the full range of their emotions. Conclusion While this process can be really long sometimes it is immensely rewarding. If we do not Embrace our Shadow and integrate it back into ourselves, forgiving ourselves for those feelings, emotions and urges that we froze out because they did not feel safe...we are forever trapped in the past. The energy of the Past is with us and we have urges that we don't feel we can control. We are not completely conscious of ourselves and that lids to a lot of disease. This is the first step of accepting and loving ourselves. When we find the ability to forgive ourselves and realize all of those emotions or urges were natural we can forgive them in others. This results in one of the deeper healings a person can achieve on their path to Wholeness. |
